District Media Accreditation Committee constituted for Rangareddy

The Telangana government has constituted the District Media Accreditation Committee (DMAC) for Ranga Reddy district, incorporating representatives from various journalists’ associations, as part of its efforts to streamline the accreditation process.

The orders were issued by Special Commissioner, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, Priyanka, in accordance with the powers delegated through earlier Government Orders. The State government had previously constituted the State Media Accreditation Committee and authorised the Special Commissioner to approve district-level committees based on proposals submitted by respective District Collectors.

Acting on the proposal sent by the Rangareddy District Collector, the government has approved the formation of the DMAC for a period of two years from the date of issuance of the order. The District Collector will function as the Chairperson of the committee.

The panel includes representatives from recognised journalists’ bodies such as the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (Regd. No. H 9/2014), represented by Uppari Shekar, Staff Reporter of Swachaal Telangana, and the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (Regd. No. H-143/2013). Representation from the Telangana Working Journalists Federation (Regd. No. H-2843/2010) has been kept pending, while the Telangana Journalists Association (Regd. No. H-45/2015) is also part of the committee.

Among individual members, K. Sreekanth Reddy, Bureau In-charge of Mana Telangana, and independent journalist Syed Ikramulla Hussaini (Telangana Journalists Association) have been included.

The committee also comprises media representatives across categories: Annavarapu Shekhar Babu, Bureau Chief of Andhra Jyothi (big Telugu daily); Mohammed Siraj, reporter with The Siasat (Urdu daily); Ganji Pradeep Kumar, Bureau Chief of Disha Daily (medium daily); and Chilakamarri Ramireddy, Editor and Publisher of Local Guide (small daily).

From the electronic media, M. Srinivas (TV5) has been nominated, while U. Shivakumar (Namaste Telangana) represents photojournalists and Royyala Raju (TV9) represents video journalists.

In addition, officials including the Regional Manager of TGSRTC or a nominee not below the rank of Depot Manager, a representative of South Central Railway, the Deputy Executive Engineer of the I&PR Department, and the Assistant Director/DPRO of the department have been included. The DPRO will act as the Member-Convener.

The committee will oversee the issuance of accreditation cards to journalists in the district. The government has directed the District Collector to take necessary follow-up action in this regard.
