Jana Sena targets YSRCP over Tirumala laddu ‘adulteration’, plans Assembly debate
Amaravathi (Same Day): The Jana Sena Party (JSP) Legislature Party on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, alleging large-scale irregularities in the supply of ghee and preparation of laddus at the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, and resolved to raise the issue prominently in the coming Budget session of the Assembly.
At a virtual Legislature Party meeting chaired by JSP president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the members alleged that ghee prepared using chemicals, instead of pure ingredients, was supplied to Tirumala during the YSRCP regime. They said the alleged adulteration not only hurt the religious sentiments of millions of devotees but also endangered public health. The party accused the YSRCP of attempting to “mislead the public” through what it termed evasive explanations.
The meeting was held while Mr. Pawan Kalyan was on a visit to Visakhapatnam and was attended by Ministers Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh, Assembly and Council Whips Pidugu Hariprasad, Bommidi Nayakar and Bolisetti Srinivas, along with MLAs and MLCs.
Deliberations also centred on preparations for the Budget session. Mr. Nadendla Manohar urged legislators to take part in discussions with adequate preparation, stressing that the government’s focus remained on State development and public welfare. He called upon members to effectively highlight the achievements of the ruling coalition and its plans for the future.
MLA Konathala Ramakrishna said the alleged Tirupati laddu adulteration should be debated in the Assembly and explained to the public in detail. MLC Nagababu advocated sustained discussions in the media and on social media platforms to place facts before the people and counter what he described as retaliatory attacks by those responsible.
Razole MLA Devaraprasad suggested drawing up a plan to ensure active participation of all party members during Question Hour, Zero Hour and other legislative business.
The Legislature Party also discussed allegations against Railway Kodur MLA Arava Sridhar. Members said the party leadership had promptly constituted a three-member committee to inquire into the matter, underscoring its commitment to transparency and discipline. They urged Mr. Sridhar to cooperate fully with the inquiry and said the party would stand by the decision taken by its president based on the committee’s findings.
Accusing the YSRCP of indulging in a campaign of misinformation against Jana Sena, the members said such attacks stemmed from an inability to accept the present government’s governance efforts and initiatives to improve basic infrastructure in villages. The meeting resolved to counter the campaign in a planned and strategic manner.
Mr. Nadendla Manohar said another Legislature Party meeting would be held ahead of the Assembly session to finalise strategy.
