ACB raids reveal disproportionate assets worth ₹20 crore held by Home Guard
Vizianagaram (Same Day): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted simultaneous searches at multiple premises linked to Srinivasa Rao, a Home Guard attached to the Vizianagaram district police office, and unearthed assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income, estimated to be worth around ₹20 crore.
According to ACB officials, the searches were carried out at locations in Vizianagaram town, Gurla mandal and Visakhapatnam. Preliminary investigations revealed the ownership of several immovable properties and other assets, the value of which is said to be far in excess of his legitimate earnings.
Officials said Srinivasa Rao had served in the ACB for nearly 15 years earlier and was suspected of misusing his position by allegedly tipping off officials about impending raids. Based on corruption-related complaints, he was surrendered to the district police office about a year ago.
The ACB registered a case following verification of complaints and intelligence inputs. Documents relating to properties, financial transactions and other incriminating material were seized during the searches, officials said.
Further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact value of the assets and to identify possible links with other public servants. The ACB said appropriate legal action would be initiated based on the outcome of the probe.
