Orders regularising 16 Urdu Academy staff cancelled; former director’s pension benefits withheld

Hyderabad (Same Day):
The Telangana government has annulled orders regularising the services of 16 temporary and contract employees of the Telangana Urdu Academy and decided to withhold the pensionary benefits of the former Secretary-Director of the Academy, Sajad Ali, pending disciplinary proceedings.

According to official sources, Sajad Ali, while serving as Secretary-Director of the Urdu Academy, issued orders regularising the services of 16 temporary and contract employees shortly before his retirement. The government initiated an inquiry into the matter following complaints alleging large-scale financial irregularities.

The government appointed B. Sabitha, Managing Director of the Christian Minority Finance Corporation, as the inquiry officer to conduct a detailed investigation. In her report submitted to the government on September 23, the inquiry officer stated that the regularisation orders were issued without obtaining mandatory approvals from the government and the Finance Department.

The report held the then Director, Sajad Ali, responsible for issuing the orders in violation of established rules and procedures. The Finance Department also recommended disciplinary action against those found to have violated norms.

Based on the inquiry findings, the Minorities Welfare Department has decided to withhold the pensionary benefits of Sajad Ali, retired Secretary, until disciplinary proceedings are concluded. Officials clarified that no pension benefits would be released until a final decision is taken.

The government has formally cancelled the orders regularising the 16 temporary and contract employees. The inquiry was ordered after allegations surfaced regarding the collection of substantial sums of money in connection with the irregular appointments, sources added.
