TJA Extends Support to TUWJ Protest Over Journalists’ Long-Pending Issues

The Telangana Journalists Association (TJA) has extended its full support to the protest call given by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) seeking resolution of various long-pending issues faced by journalists in the State. Acting on the suggestion of Uppala Laxman, former member of the Press Council of India and advisor to TJA, the association announced that its leaders will take part in the protest scheduled to be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in front of the Department of Information and Public Relations office.

TJA State president Kadiri Venkataramanarao, State secretary M.R. Ghouri, and NUJI vice-president Rajendranath, TJA greater Hyderabad president Dr. Syed Ikramullah Hussaini, said that the protest aims to draw the government’s attention to persistent concerns, including accreditation delays, issuance of health cards, insurance benefits, bus and rail passes, allocation of residential plots, and housing facilities for journalists.

Stating that these issues have remained unresolved for years despite repeated representations, senior TJA leaders said the association fully stands by TUWJ’s efforts to seek accountability from the government. They urged the State to prioritise journalists’ welfare and ensure timely provision of essential facilities crucial for their professional security and family well-being.
