Maulana Syed Ehsanuddin Qasmi Elected as President of Jamiat Ulama Telangana
Hyderabad (Same Day): The election session of the Jamiat Ulama Telangana was convened on Saturday after Maghrib Salah at Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom, Hyderabad, witnessing a solemn and well-attended gathering of scholars, delegates and organisational representatives from across the state.
The proceedings commenced with a recitation of the Holy Qur’aan by Qari Abdul Bari, followed by a Naat rendered by Pir Abdul Wahab Qasmi. Hafiz Pir Khaleeq Sabir presented the three-year performance and activity report of the State Jamiat Ulama.
Maulana Mufti Umar of Bengaluru, representing the Election Board, offered a brief introduction to the various departments functioning under the Jamiat. He urged members to strengthen grassroots religious education, particularly through the establishment and support of Makaatib-e-Diniyah.
Addressing the gathering, Mufti Muhammad Tajammul Hussain Qasmi, Vice-President of Jamiat Ulama Greater Hyderabad, drew a distinction between “Madani” and “Thanwi” traditions of religious service, delivering what many described as a stirring and introspective speech. Mufti Syed Siddiq Mazahiri, Vice-President of Jamiat Ulama Nalgonda, recalled the initial struggles of the organisation in the Telugu states and highlighted the contributions and sacrifices of its former President, the late Hazrat Maulana Hafiz Pir Shabbir Ahmed.
During the election proceedings, senior Jamiat leader and Member of the Working Committee of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, Maulana Abdul Qawi, proposed the name of Maulana Syed Ehsanuddin Qasmi for the post of President. The proposal was unanimously approved, leading to his election as the new President of Jamiat Ulama Telangana.
Four vice-presidents were also elected:
* Maulana Abdul Qawi
* Maulana Musaddiq Qasmi
* Maulana Saeed
* Maulana Abdul Sattar
Maulana Misbahuddin was elected as Treasurer of the State Jamiat.
Delivering his keynote address as the central observer, Mufti Syed Salman Mansoorpuri, Naib Ameer-e-Hind and General Secretary of the All-India Jamiat’s Deeni Taleemi Board, emphasised that enduring institutions are built on sacrifice, not ambition. “Jamaats are strengthened by sleepless nights and tireless dedication,” he said. “Leadership positions are a burden, not an honour to be sought.”
He urged members to uphold the legacy entrusted to them and to prioritise service over seeking office. He also called for greater awareness regarding the protection of waqf properties through the ‘UMEED Portal’, stressing the importance of registration and vigilance.
He paid tribute to the late Maulana Hafiz Pir Shabbir Ahmed, stating that “he turned this organisation into a flourishing garden with his sacrifices and handed it to you like a bouquet. Its protection and advancement is now your responsibility.”
More than 650 managing members, district presidents, and senior organisers from across Telangana participated in the peaceful and well-organised session.
Hafiz Pir Khaleeq Ahmed Sabir expressed gratitude to Mufti Azeemuddin Junaid Ansari, Nazim of Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom, as well as the teachers and students, for hosting the meeting. The session concluded with prayers led by the Naib Ameer-e-Hind.
Following the meeting, a delegation of the newly elected State Jamiat Ulama visited the residence of Hazrat Maulana Jafar Pasha, Muhtamim of Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom, in Panja Shah to offer their respects and thanks.
