Kodangal Will Be Model Constituency by 2034, Says Telangana CM Revanth Reddy
Kodangal (Same Day): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday announced an ambitious roadmap to transform Kodangal into one of India’s most exemplary legislative constituencies by 2034, asserting that the region—“neglected for over 70 years”—now has a rare opportunity to reinvent itself as a hub of development, education, and industry.
The Chief Minister, who toured Kodangal constituency on Monday, inspected the Hare Krishna Movement’s modern centralized community kitchen and later laid the foundation stone for the new Akshaya Patra mid-day meal kitchen. He also launched development works worth ₹103 crore and distributed welfare cheques and sarees to beneficiaries.
Addressing a large gathering, he said the government aims to make Kodangal a model constituency that people from across the country would visit to study its developmental transformation.
Education as the Foundation...
Revanth Reddy emphasised that the State’s commitment to women’s welfare and children’s education forms the core of its development philosophy. Kodangal, he said, has been chosen as a “laboratory of progress.”
In collaboration with Akshaya Patra, the government is providing daily breakfast to 28,000 students across 312 schools in the constituency, with mid-day meals set to be introduced shortly. “No child should attend school hungry,” he said.
The government is moving to turn Kodangal into a major educational hub with an expansive list of upcoming institutions, including a medical college, veterinary and agricultural colleges, paramedical and nursing colleges, a physiotherapy institute, an engineering college, ATC, junior and degree colleges, and the State’s first Sainik School.
An integrated education campus with an investment of ₹5,000 crore is also on the anvil, aimed at creating an international-grade academic ecosystem within 16 months.
Irrigation and Infrastructure Push...
Declaring that drought-prone Kodangal, Makthal, and Narayanpet will soon receive Krishna river waters, the Chief Minister said a massive lift-irrigation project costing ₹5,000 crore has been planned to supply water to every acre. Over 95% of the required land has already been voluntarily given by farmers, he noted.
Once cleared by the Cabinet, construction will begin within three months. Compensation and housing demands of farmers have been met, he said, adding that industrial parks in Lagcherla and surrounding areas will be expanded with international-level industries.
A long-pending dream of the region—the Vikarabad–Krishna railway line connecting Vikarabad, Pargi, Kodangal, Narayanpet, and Makthal—is set to materialise, with the Centre’s approval secured and the State agreeing to share project costs. “After seven decades of waiting, the railway line will finally become a reality,” he declared.
Industrial Development and Local Employment...
Taking note of abundant limestone reserves, the Chief Minister announced that a new cement factory will be established in Kodangal mandal, creating significant local employment opportunities.
Kodangal would be developed on the lines of Noida near Delhi, he said, describing the constituency as “Telangana’s future industrial powerhouse,” where educational advancement and job creation would go hand-in-hand.
Welfare and Women’s Empowerment...
The State is distributing one crore sarees to one crore women across Telangana during the festive season, he said, instructing officials to ensure that every woman receives one without fail.
Revanth Reddy also distributed interest-free loans amounting to ₹300 crore to self-help groups in the constituency. Earlier, he flagged off a new bus service operated by women under the Mahila Shakti initiative.
The Chief Minister urged voters to support capable candidates in the upcoming panchayat elections to ensure continuity of developmental works such as schools, drinking water supply, temples, and Indiramma housing.
Ministers D. Damodar Rajanarasimha, V. Srihari, district representatives, officials, and large numbers of women’s groups participated in the events.
