BC Leaders Pay Tributes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on His 135th Death Anniversary at Sainikpuri

Leaders from various Backward Class (BC) community organisations paid rich tributes to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his 135th death anniversary at the Sainikpuri crossroads on Friday. Floral garlands were offered to the social reformer’s statue in the presence of a large gathering of community representatives.

BC JAC Chairman Kundaram Ganesh chary, local Corporator Pavani Reddy, Meru Sangham State Vice-President Jayaraju, Vishwabrahmana Cooperative Society President Thatikonda Srinivas Chary, Medchal district BC Associations Vice-President Charlapalli Manoj Kumar, BC Welfare Association leaders, former MLA B.T. Subhash Reddy, along with several advocates and community members, participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kundaram Ganesh chary expressed concern that despite constituting nearly 60% of the population, BC communities continue to remain socially and politically disadvantaged. He urged the State government to honour its commitment of providing 42% reservations for BCs in local body elections.

He further appealed to the Union government to include BC reservations under the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution to ensure legal protection and safeguard the interests of nearly 70 crore people belonging to BC communities across the country.

Calling for equitable justice, Mr. chary stressed the need for the Telangana government to address the concerns of the nearly 2.5 crore BC population in the State and ensure fair representation and welfare measures.
