Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Telangana Delegation Meets CM Revanth Reddy, Submits Key Proposals on Minority Welfare and Communal Harmony
Hyderabad (Same Day): A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Telangana, led by its Ameer (State President) Mr. Mohammed Azharuddin, met Telangana Chief Minister Mr. A. Revanth Reddy and submitted a memorandum highlighting key issues concerning communal harmony, minority welfare, and equitable development.
during the meeting, Mr. Azharuddin appreciated the Chief Minister’s efforts toward social justice and inclusive progress in the state. The delegation, while commending the government’s developmental approach, urged it to take concrete measures to curb the growing number of communal incidents. According to the delegation, around 45 communal incidents have occurred in the state over the past 20 months, necessitating urgent preventive action.
The memorandum presented by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind included several major recommendations:
1. **Communal Violence Bill:** Enact a *Communal Violence Prevention Bill* to ensure the protection of minorities from targeted violence.
2. **24×7 Helpline:** Establish a dedicated 24-hour helpline to report and respond to incidents of hate speech and communal provocation, including in media.
3. **Judicial Probes:** Conduct independent judicial inquiries into encounter killings and custodial deaths.
4. **Withdrawal of False Cases:** Withdraw cases filed against innocent individuals, particularly those implicated in the recent Jinnur riots.
5. **Voter Rights Protection:** Ensure that no community is disenfranchised through administrative lapses or documentation issues; simplify the process for obtaining necessary identity documents.
6. **Minority Sub-Plan:** Create a dedicated *Minority Sub-Plan* similar to that for SC/ST communities to guarantee the effective use of allocated budgetary funds. Revive scholarship schemes for higher education, launch youth empowerment initiatives, and strengthen the Minority Finance Corporation.
7. **Education and Language Promotion:** Expand *Telangana Minorities Residential Schools*, ensure that staff salaries are paid directly from the state treasury, make Urdu the second official language, and appoint Urdu and Arabic teachers. The delegation also sought improved security at these institutions.
8. **Waqf Property Protection:** Oppose the proposed *Waqf Bill 2025*, simplify digital registration of waqf properties across all districts, ensure transparency and autonomy in the Waqf Board, and establish a special *Task Force* for protection of waqf assets.
9. **Representation and Coordination:** Provide representation to credible minority organizations in key sectors like education, health, social welfare, and urban development. Establish a permanent coordination mechanism between the Chief Minister’s Office and minority bodies.
Mr. Azharuddin reiterated that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is committed to supporting the government’s constructive measures for communal harmony and overall state development.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appreciated the delegation’s suggestions and assured that his government would take firm steps toward the welfare of minorities, protection of waqf properties, promotion of communal harmony, and implementation of the proposed measures.
The delegation included former Ameer-e-Halqa Maulana Hamid Mohammed Khan, Assistant Ameers Hafiz Mohammed Rashaduddin and Mr. Mohammed Sadiq Ahmed, City Secretary Dr. Mohammed Mubashir Ahmed, and Secretaries Mr. Syed Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, Dr. Sheikh Usman, and Dr. Atif Ismail, among others.
