Sabitha Indra Reddy Slams CM Revanth Reddy Over Remarks at Osmania University Event

Hyderabad (Same Day):
BRS MLA and former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks at a university event, accusing him of politicising educational institutions and disrespecting academic dignity.

Talking to X (formerly Twitter), Ms. Reddy questioned the Chief Minister’s tone and language during his speech at a prestigious university, asking, “Are political attacks necessary even at sacred educational institutions, Chief Minister Revanth”.

Criticising his reference to the Vice-Chancellor in the singular form, she asked, “What message are you sending to society with such language? Referring to a Vice-Chancellor — a position held in high esteem by thousands of students, faculty, and citizens — in such a disrespectful tone is unacceptable and against our culture.”

Ms. Reddy accused the Chief Minister of being unable to complete even a single public address without invoking the names of BRS leaders K. Chandrashekar Rao and K.T. Rama Rao. “The university where you made those remarks is a historic institution that has shaped many great scholars and historians. You must not let yourself go down in history as someone who diminished its dignity,” she wrote.

Referring to BRS’s legacy in the education sector, she highlighted the establishment of over 1,200 Gurukulam institutions under the KCR government, aimed at uplifting SC, ST, BC, and minority students. “While the previous government ensured quality food and education for these students, the present administration struggles to even serve proper meals,” she alleged.

Taking strong exception to the CM’s remarks about university land being converted into plots if BRS returns to power, she responded, “It is KCR who protected university lands for a decade. It was you who had to retreat in the HCU land case following Supreme Court directions. Who are you to accuse?”

She further alleged duplicity in the current government’s approach: “You say there is no land to sell, yet continue to dispose of government assets. You say the state treasury is empty, yet urge people to ask for not small, but large grants.”

Calling the remarks “blatantly false” and “a display of double standards,” Ms. Reddy concluded her statement with a caution: “Let not history remember you as a leader who degraded our educational spaces with political vendetta and disrespect.”
