Owaisi Questions Govt’s Silence on China’s Support to Pakistan, Urges Transparency Ahead of PM's Visit
Hyderabad (Same Day): Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday raised serious concerns over the Modi government’s handling of bilateral ties with China, especially in light of Beijing’s reported military and strategic support to Pakistan during the recently conducted Operation Sindoor.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Owaisi alleged that China had supplied Pakistan with weapons and fighter jets used against Indian soldiers. “It even gave intelligence and satellite inputs to the Pakistan military,” he wrote, questioning the government’s silence on the issue. “Why are we not raising it with China strongly that this is unacceptable?”
The MP further criticised the Union government for not responding to China’s official protest after Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the Dalai Lama. "Beijing issued a statement criticising the PM when he wished the Dalai Lama. Our government has been quiet about it. Why? Is it not a matter of our national honour and dignity?” he asked.
Mr. Owaisi also drew attention to the growing trade imbalance between India and China, noting that it has worsened since 2020. “China has been causing problems for our economic growth in so many areas. But the government seems unconcerned,” he remarked.
Calling the Centre’s recent approach towards China a “u-turn,” Mr. Owaisi demanded greater transparency from the government ahead of the Prime Minister’s expected visit to China. “There are many questions about the Modi govt’s u-turn on China which deserve answers. The government should come clean before the PM’s trip to China,” he said.
