Journalists Play a Crucial Role in the Bridging Government and People: special commissioner Priyanka

Hyderabad (Same Day):
Special Commissioner for Information and Public Relations, Ms. Priyanka, on Thursday underlined the vital role journalists play in connecting government initiatives with the public. She affirmed the State government's commitment to the welfare of journalists and its continuous efforts to strengthen media institutions.

Addressing the valedictory session of the training programme for journalists from Ranga Reddy district at the Media Academy in Nampally, Ms. Priyanka said that the media has evolved significantly, with technology transforming news dissemination. “In the past, collecting and sharing news was a strenuous task. Today, through platforms like WhatsApp and social media, information reaches people within seconds. However, the responsibility of delivering accurate, honest, and transparent information remains paramount,” she said.

She added that the government is actively working to streamline welfare schemes for journalists. "We are rectifying loopholes in the insurance schemes, ensuring financial assistance for those injured while on duty, and supporting the families of deceased journalists through pensions and educational aid for their children," she stated.
