BC Delegation Meets Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Submits Key Community Demands

A delegation representing Backward Classes (BCs) from across India met Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr .Hardeep Singh Puri, at the Parliament complex on Thursday. The delegation, led by Gujja Krishna, National Convenor of the BC Welfare Association, submitted a memorandum outlining critical demands concerning the socio-economic upliftment of BC communities.

The delegation included Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare President Bone Durga Naresh, Delhi Incharge Karri Venu Madhav, State General Secretary Nanda Gopal, and Saradha, Vice Chairperson of the Mahila Wing. They were accompanied by several Members of Parliament, including R. Krishnaiah, Beedha Masthan Rao, Paka Sathyanarayana, and Putta Mahesh Yadav.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mr. R. Krishnaiah said the delegation urged the Union Government to expedite pending welfare initiatives, increase budgetary allocations for BC development, and ensure effective implementation of reservation policies in education and employment.

“We stressed the need for dedicated national schemes aimed at BC youth and women, particularly in areas of skill development, entrepreneurship, and higher education,” Mr. Krishnaiah added.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri assured the delegation that the Government remains committed to inclusive growth and said the concerns raised would be duly examined in consultation with relevant ministries.

The meeting assumes significance as BC communities across the country continue to push for greater representation and support in policymaking, particularly in the wake of growing socio-economic disparities.
