BC Delegation Meets Union Minister Prahlad Joshi Over Key Community Demands
New Delhi (Same Day): A delegation comprising Members of Parliament and senior leaders representing the Backward Classes (BCs) called on Union Cabinet Minister Prahlad Joshi at the Parliament complex on Friday, seeking the Centre’s immediate attention to long-pending demands concerning the upliftment of BC communities across the country.
The delegation was led by MP R. Krishnaiah and MP Beedha Masthan Rao, and included prominent BC leaders from various states. Among those present were National Convenor Gujja Krishna, Andhra Pradesh BC President Bone Durga Naresh, Delhi In-charge Karri Venu Madhav, General Secretary Nanda Gopal, and Mahila Vice President Sarada.
During the meeting, the leaders submitted a formal representation to the Minister outlining critical demands, including increased political representation for BCs, strengthening of welfare schemes, national BC census, and the establishment of a permanent BC commission with constitutional powers.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Krishnaiah stated, “The backward classes, which constitute a significant portion of India’s population, continue to face systemic marginalisation. We urged the Union Government to act with urgency and ensure justice to these communities through legislative and policy-level interventions.”
Mr. Prahlad Joshi assured the delegation that the issues raised would be given due consideration and conveyed to the appropriate departments for follow-up.
The delegation described the meeting as “constructive” and expressed hope that the government would respond positively to their appeal.
