BC Welfare Association Seeks Regulation of Fees in Private Schools: Jajula Lingam Goud

Hyderabad (Same Day): The State Secretary of the BC Welfare Association, Jajula Lingam Goud, has urged the Telangana School Education Department to introduce a law to regulate fee structures in private schools, similar to the model implemented in Delhi. He submitted a formal request to the Director of School Education, Naveen Nicholas, seeking immediate government intervention in this matter. Speaking on the occasion, Lingam Goud expressed concern over what he described as the “commercialization of education” by private institutions. “Schools that are meant to function on a ‘no profit, no loss’ basis are exploiting parents by imposing exorbitant fees and forcing them to purchase books, uniforms, shoes, ties, and other items exclusively from the schools,” he said.

He alleged that many private schools have turned into business hubs, placing a heavy financial burden on parents. “The Right to Education Act appears to be inactive in the state. The government must act swiftly to ensure its effective implementation and protect the educational rights of children,” he added. Goud called upon the state government to introduce an ordinance to monitor and control school fees, ensuring that private institutions remain accessible and accountable.
