Municipal election schedule announced in Telangana Polling on February 11; counting on February 13

The Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) on Tuesday announced the schedule for elections to urban local bodies across the State, with polling slated for February 11 and counting of votes on February 13.

According to the notification, the election process will begin with the acceptance of nominations from Wednesday. The Model Code of Conduct came into force across the State with immediate effect.

Elections will be held to seven municipal corporations and 116 municipalities, covering a total of 2,996 wards. As per the reservation break-up, 854 wards (28.5%) have been reserved for Backward Classes, 444 (14.8%) for Scheduled Castes, 187 (6.24%) for Scheduled Tribes, while 1,511 wards (50.4%) fall under the general category.

Polling will be conducted at 8,203 polling stations using 16,031 ballot boxes. The counting of votes will take place on February 13 at 136 designated counting centres, the Commission said.

The State Election Commission has directed all departments to ensure strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and make necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the elections.
