Owaisi urges the government to retain the SETWIN office at Purani Haveli

Hyderabad (Same Day):
AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has urged the State government to retain the Society for Employment Promotion & Training in Twin Cities (SETWIN) office at Purani Haveli, citing concerns over accessibility and service delivery if it is relocated.

In separate letters addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Mr. Owaisi said SETWIN has been functioning from Purani Haveli since its inception and has evolved into a crucial institutional platform for skill development, employment promotion and welfare-oriented programmes, especially for economically weaker sections, minority communities, women and unemployed youth in the Old City.

Any move to shift the office from its present location would adversely affect public access, participation and the effective delivery of services, thereby undermining the core objectives of the organisation, he cautioned. Mr. Owaisi also noted that the Purani Haveli premises enjoy long-standing public acceptance and social legitimacy.

Relocating the office, he said, could lead to public resistance and an avoidable social disconnect. He urged the government to take into account the socio-economic realities of the Old City and the dependence of local residents on the existing SETWIN office before taking any decision on the matter.
