Jamiat urges grassroots outreach on SIR awareness

Nalgonda (Same Day):
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Telangana has called for an intensified, grassroots-level public awareness campaign on the SIR (SIR) process, warning that negligence in such critical matters could lead to serious problems in the future.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Telangana president Maulana Shah Syed Ahsanuddin Qasmi said there is a significant lack of awareness among the public regarding SIR, resulting in many people—particularly the poor, marginalised and illiterate—missing out on timely benefits.

Stressing the need for organised and swift action across the State, Maulana Qasmi directed office-bearers in all districts to conduct SIR-related workshops and set up public facilitation counters to provide hands-on guidance. “Announcements alone are not sufficient. Reaching people at the grassroots and guiding them practically has become an urgent necessity,” he said.

He underlined that Jamiat functionaries and volunteers must work in a structured manner in every district, mandal and locality to educate people about the importance of SIR, its benefits, procedures and required documentation. Any laxity, he cautioned, could have long-term consequences.

Describing the issue as a religious, social and collective responsibility, Maulana Qasmi urged Jamiat members to rise above personal differences and preoccupations and focus on public service through strong teamwork.

He also emphasised the involvement of youth in the workshops so that they could assist the elderly and less educated in technical matters. Special arrangements, he added, should be made for women to enable them to seek guidance without hesitation.

Appealing to State and district-level leaders, the Jamiat president said the awareness drive should not be treated as a one-time initiative but pursued on a sustained basis, with regular reporting and monitoring to ensure that the maximum number of people benefit from the SIR process.
