Hyderabad Police Commissionerate Reorganised; Jurisdiction of Several Police Stations Revised
Hyderabad (Same Day): In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at improving policing efficiency and aligning jurisdictions with urban expansion, the Telangana government has revised the limits of the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate by adding and transferring several police stations.
As part of the reorganisation, nine police stations have been brought under the Hyderabad Commissionerate. These include Sanath Nagar, Mailardevpally, Attapur, Rajendra Nagar, Adibatla, Balapur, Badangpet, Pahadi Shareef, and the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police Station. Officials said the inclusion of these stations reflects the rapid growth of the city towards the southern and south-western corridors and the need for streamlined law enforcement in high-density and strategic areas, including the airport zone.
At the same time, eight police stations have been transferred out of the Hyderabad Commissionerate and placed under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate. These are Begumpet, Gopalpuram, Bowenpally, Tukaramgate, Marredpally, Bollarum, Tirumalgherry, and Karkhana police stations. The move is intended to rationalise police administration in the Secunderabad and northern suburban regions, which fall more naturally within the Malkajgiri policing limits.
Senior police officials said the restructuring would help ensure better supervision, quicker response times, and more effective deployment of personnel in line with changing demographic and urban patterns. The reorganisation is also expected to reduce administrative overlap and improve coordination between commissionerates.
The revised jurisdictional boundaries will come into effect immediately, and necessary adjustments in staffing and logistics are being undertaken, officials added.
