Four police commissionerates to oversee security around expanding Hyderabad

Hyderabad (Same Day):
Following the expansion of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad has emerged as one of the largest cities in the country in terms of geographical spread. To strengthen law and order management across the rapidly expanding urban region, the Telangana government has put in place a police administrative structure comprising four commissionerates around Greater Hyderabad.

Senior IPS officer C.V. Sajjanar continues as the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City. The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate remains under the leadership of M. Ramesh, while Avinash Mohanty has been appointed as the Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri.

In a significant move, the government has carved out the upcoming Future City — being developed as a prestigious and futuristic urban project — as a separate police commissionerate. IPS officer Sudheer Babu has been appointed as its Commissioner of Police.

Officials said the creation of multiple commissionerates around Hyderabad is aimed at ensuring focused policing, faster response to law and order issues, and better administrative coordination in view of increasing population, urbanisation and infrastructure growth.

With four dedicated police commissionerates now overseeing the Hyderabad region, the government expects enhanced capacity to maintain peace, public safety and security as the city continues to expand.
