Governor Jishnu Dev Presents Felicitations at North-East Film Festival in Hyderabad
Hyderabad (Same Day): The Telangana North-East Film Festival witnessed a vibrant evening at the Imax Theatre on Friday, where Governor Jishnu Dev Varma presented mementoes and certificates of appreciation to filmmakers, producers, actors and other delegates representing various regional film industries.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, said that cinema as a medium knows no boundaries and highlighted Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, historic structures and diverse natural landscapes that make the state an ideal destination for film production.
He noted that Hyderabad is home to world-class studios and advanced production facilities, placing it on par with global filmmaking hubs. “Telugu cinema has reached a stage where it can compete with Hollywood, even securing prestigious recognitions such as the Oscars,” the Minister remarked. He urged filmmakers from across the country to consider Telangana as their first choice for movie production and assured full support from the state government, especially for filmmakers from the North-Eastern states.
In the presence of the Governor, an MoU between the Assam Film Development Corporation and the Telangana State Film Development Corporation was formally exchanged, marking a new phase of cooperation between the two states in fostering regional cinema.
The event was attended by TGFDC Chairman Dil Raju, Assam Additional Chief Secretary Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Sikkim Film Development Corporation Chairman Simanta Shekhar, Principal Secretary Dana Kishore, Telangana FDC Managing Director Ch. Priyanka, Assam FDC Managing Director Prashant Barua, and several other dignitaries.
