Mohammed Azharuddin Sworn In as Telangana Minister
Hyderabad (Same Day): Former Indian cricket captain and senior Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin was sworn in as a Minister in the Telangana government on Friday. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Governor Jishnu Dev Verma administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly inducted minister.
The inclusion of Mr. Azharuddin in the Cabinet is seen as part of the Revanth Reddy government’s efforts to ensure minority representation in the Council of Ministers.
According to sources, Mr. Azharuddin is likely to be allotted the Minority Welfare portfolio. His induction is expected to strengthen the Congress party’s outreach among minority communities ahead of key electoral battles in the State.
