Telangana Youth Killed in Police Firing in California


Hyderabad (Same Day): A 32-year-old youth from Mahabubnagar district, Telangana, was shot dead by police in California, United States, earlier this month following a reported altercation with his roommates.

The deceased, identified as Nizamuddin, had moved to the US in 2016 to pursue a Master’s degree but had been living with friends in California after being unable to secure employment.

According to local police, officers responded to an emergency call on September 3 regarding a dispute among roommates. Preliminary reports stated that Nizamuddin allegedly attacked one of his roommates with a knife. In an attempt to bring the situation under control, police opened fire, causing severe injuries. He later succumbed.

The incident, which remained unreported for several days, surfaced only recently, sending shockwaves among his family members in Mahabubnagar. Efforts are underway to repatriate the mortal remains to India.
