Songs to drive BC ideological movement, says Srinivas Goud

Hyderabad (Same Day):
Songs that once became a rallying force during the Telangana agitation should now be harnessed to spread ideological awareness and achieve political empowerment for Backward Classes (BCs), said Jajula Srinivas Goud, national president of the BC Welfare Association.

He was addressing the State Committee meeting of the BC Cultural Forum held in Hyderabad on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by State president Varangal Srinivas, with Daruvu Anjanna and Kodari Srinivas coordinating the proceedings.

Mr. Srinivas Goud stressed that BCs have a rich legacy of rulers, emperors and visionaries, and generations of talent and contribution. “Despite this glorious history, BCs today are forced to depend on communities with a much smaller demographic presence. It is time for BC poets, writers and artistes to carry forward the ideological movement to every village, transforming BCs from the governed into governors,” he observed.

He called upon artistes to form a “BC cultural army” that would continuously propagate the history, traditions and cultural identity of the communities, while inspiring political self-rule and self-determination.

The State leaders of the BC Cultural Forum announced that post-Dasara, awareness meetings and conferences would be organised across all 33 districts, culminating in a large State convention in Hyderabad.

Executive president Kodari Srinivas, vice-presidents Ambati Venkanna and Sirisinavada Ramalingam said that village-level campaigns, on the lines of the Telangana movement, would be intensified to mobilise BCs politically, beyond party affiliations.

Several leaders and activists including Siga Vijay, Manukota Prasad, Maddela Sandeep, Santhosh, Jadala Ramesh, Yata Sandhya, Bullet Venkanna, Kulakacharla Srinivas, Kanakala Shyam Kurma, Bhimani Manjari, M. Chandrasekhar Goud, Jajula Lingam Goud and Varikuppala Madhu participated in the meeting.
