Actor Prakash Raj Criticises RSS, Cites Indonesia as Example of Communal Harmony
Hyderabad (Same Day): Actor Prakash Raj on Sunday launched a sharp critique of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that its ideology was responsible for creating divisions in Indian society.
Addressing a gathering, the actor pointed to Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, as an example of peaceful coexistence. “Indonesia has 90 per cent Muslims and about 2 per cent Hindus, yet the country has over 11,000 temples. I have never come across reports of communal riots there, because there is no RSS,” he remarked.
Mr. Raj, known for his outspoken views on social and political issues, has frequently criticised right-wing organisations in the past. His comments, made in the context of rising concerns over communal polarisation, are expected to trigger a fresh round of debate in political circles.
The actor underscored the need for harmony and tolerance in a diverse country like India, warning that divisive ideologies could undermine the nation’s plural fabric.
