Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Raises BC Bill Issue with Amit Shah Calls on Union Home Minister during Speakers’ Conference in Delhi
New Delhi (Same Day): Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad on Saturday brought the pending Backward Classes (BC) reservation bill to the attention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The interaction took place on the sidelines of the national Conference of Legislative Speakers being held in the national capital.
According to sources, Speaker Prasad reminded Mr. Shah that the Telangana Assembly had already passed the bill seeking enhanced reservations for BCs, but it is still awaiting approval from the Centre. He also pointed out that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had previously met the Home Minister separately to request the Centre's assent.
In response, Mr. Shah assured the Speaker that the matter would be duly examined. The meeting has once again brought focus to the BC reservations issue, which has seen significant political traction in Telangana. Political observers believe that the Speaker’s intervention could help expedite the process at the central level.
