BRS accused of conspiracies against Telangana movement leaders... Panduranga Reddy condemns political targeting of Prof. Kodandaram
Hyderabad (Same Day): Former Chairman of the Ranga Reddy District Library Committee and Congress leader, Kappati Panduranga Reddy, has come down heavily on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing the party of orchestrating political conspiracies against key figures of the Telangana statehood movement.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy alleged that BRS was deliberately sidelining and maligning genuine movement leaders like Prof. M. Kodandaram, who played a pivotal role in mobilising public sentiment and spearheading mass agitations for a separate Telangana.
“Telangana was born out of the sacrifices and relentless efforts of countless activists and leaders. Prof. Kodandaram, as Chairman of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), unified diverse social groups under the common cause of statehood,” Mr. Reddy said. He recalled landmark protests such as the ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ and ‘Sangaraharam’, stating they were instrumental in shaping the political discourse around Telangana.
“It is unfortunate and unacceptable that someone who symbolises the self-respect and aspirations of Telangana is now being targeted with political vendetta. The BRS appears to be enacting a calculated strategy to exclude Prof. Kodandaram from governance, fearing his influence and integrity,” Mr. Reddy added.
He urged the people of Telangana to recognise and reject such conspiracies. “Undermining the contributions of real movement leaders is tantamount to insulting the very foundation of Telangana. The BRS leadership must introspect and correct its course,” he said.
Mr. Reddy called on civil society and democratic forces to remain vigilant against any attempts to rewrite the history of the Telangana movement or diminish the role of its true architects.
