BC Reservation Bill Welcomed by BC Leaders at Gun Park
Hyderabad (Same Day): In a significant show of support for the recently passed BC (Backward Classes) Reservation Bill in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, several prominent BC community leaders gathered at Gun Park, near the Martyrs’ Memorial, to express their appreciation and urge collective support for the legislation.
Speaking to the media, Jajula Srinivas Goud, National President of the BC Welfare Association, commended the state government for amending the Panchayat Raj Act and raising the cap on reservations to 42%, going beyond the erstwhile 50% ceiling on social reservations. "This is a historic and commendable step towards ensuring social justice for the backward communities," he said.
He extended his gratitude to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, PCC President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, and BC ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha, Vakati Srihari, and Aadi Srinivas for their roles in making the legislation a reality.
Jajula Srinivas also acknowledged the support of opposition parties including the BRS, BJP, CPI, and AIMIM, who participated in the Assembly discussions and backed the bill. “Had the Central government cooperated earlier, justice could have been delivered to the BCs long ago,” he remarked.
He expressed hope that the Governor of Telangana would give hir assent to the bill soon and called upon society at large to support this move. Importantly, he urged individuals not to challenge the legislation in court. “Please don’t snatch away the rightful share of BCs by hiding behind legal technicalities. We appeal for restraint and unity,” he said.
Jajula also warned that those who attempt to derail the legislation by politicizing the issue or dragging it into the judiciary would be publicly identified as "enemies of the BCs."
He further stated that a delegation of BC leaders would soon meet the Governor to formally request approval of the bill.
Among those present at the press meet were BC JAC Chairman Kundaram Ganesh Chari, BC Unity President Prof. Chalamala Venkateshwarlu, Poole Aashaya Sadhana Samithi President Prof. Sangani Malleshwar, BC Welfare Association State Executive President Kulkacherla Srinivas Mudiraj, BC Student Union National President Thatikonda Vikram Goud, BC Youth Union National President Kanakala Shyam Kuruma, State Secretary Jajula Lingam Goud, BC Student Union State President Godugu Mahesh Yadav, Youth Union State Executive President Ediga Srinivas Goud, and Vice Presidents Gooduru Bhaskar and Jagadeeshwar Chari, among others.
