TJA to Hold Key Meetings in Khammam on Journalists’ Welfare
Hyderabad (Same Day): The Telangana Journalists Association (TJA) has announced two significant meetings to be held on Sunday, July 27, focusing on the welfare of journalists across the state. The meetings — a State Executive Meeting and the Khammam District General Meeting — will be held at 11:30 a.m.vat the TTDC Training Centre, Khammam district headquarters.
The State Executive Meeting will be chaired by TJA State President K.V. Ramana Rao, while the Khammam District General Meeting will be led by District President Nagaswamy.
The event will see the participation of prominent figures including TJA Founder and former Press Council of India member Shri Uppala Lakshman, and NUJ(I) Vice-President Shri Ukkalkar Rajender Nath.
According to a statement issued by TJA State General Secretary Mr. Ghori, the meetings will deliberate on a set of long-standing demands concerning the professional and social welfare of journalists. Key issues on the agenda include:
* Allotment of housing plots to eligible journalists
* Issuance of health cards for journalists and their families
* Access to subsidised railway passes
* Government advertising support for small and medium newspapers
* Introduction of a monthly pension scheme for retired journalists aged 60 and above
* Provision of free education for the children of journalists
Mr. Ghouri GS of TJA, reiterated the association’s commitment to advocating for journalists’ rights and welfare, adding that the TJA will continue to raise these issues with state authorities until tangible measures are implemented.
