Telangana Government to Issue New Accreditations for Journalists Next Week: Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy

Khammam (Same Day):
In a significant move aimed at addressing long-pending concerns of the journalist community, Telangana Revenue, Information, and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Thursday announced that the State government would begin issuing new accreditation cards to journalists across Telangana from next week.

Speaking at the fourth district conference of the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ - IJU) held in Wyra, Khammam district, Mr. Reddy assured that the government is committed to resolving three key issues affecting journalists.

“We will finalise the list in consultation with union leaders and commence distribution of accreditation cards next week,” the Minister said.

He further stated that health cards would be issued immediately after the accreditation process is completed. Addressing the long-pending issue of house site allotments for journalists, Mr. Reddy said that the matter is currently sub judice in the Supreme Court.

“We are consulting legal experts to ensure that there are no legal hurdles in the distribution of house sites,” he added.

Mr. Reddy emphasised that the Congress government prioritises the welfare of journalists and will continue to stand by them. “The wellbeing of journalists is central to our governance philosophy,” he remarked.

The event was attended by several union representatives and local officials, with discussions centring around media welfare, working conditions, and policy support for press personnel.
