Panchayat Secretary Booked for Bribery in Ranga Reddy District

Rangareddy (Same Day): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against K. Surender, Panchayat Secretary of Inmulnarva Village in Kothur Mandal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a local resident in connection with a construction-related notice.

According to ACB officials, the accused had initially demanded ₹1 Lakh from the complainant to withdraw a notice issued against an ongoing construction. Acting on a complaint, the ACB laid a trap, during which Surender was caught accepting ₹50,000 as part of the bribe amount.

However, upon noticing the presence of ACB officials, the accused officer fled the scene in a four-wheeler with the bribe money in his possession. The vehicle was later traced, and the amount was recovered by the authorities.

Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding officer. A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, the ACB said in a statement. Further investigation is in progress.
