New Ration Cards Row: Congress Slams BRS Over “Political Gimmick”... Congress leader Panduranga Reddy accuses former BRS government of neglecting the poor for a decade

Kandukur (Ranga Reddy District):
Alleging a decade-long neglect of the economically weaker sections, Congress leaders have come down heavily on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for what they termed a “political drama” over the issuance of new ration cards.

Addressing a press conference at Kandukur on Tuesday, Kappati Panduranga Reddy, former chairman of the District Libraries Corporation, lambasted the BRS leadership for “failing to issue new ration cards during their tenure and instead cancelling existing ones, causing panic and hardship among the poor.”

“After ten years of silence, they now speak of six lakh new cards as if it’s a major achievement. It is nothing but an illusion aimed at misleading the people once again,” Mr. Reddy said.

Congress Issues 5 Lakh Cards in One Go...

Contrasting the approach of the current administration, Mr. Reddy stated that the Congress government had sanctioned five lakh new ration cards in a single phase — a step that he described as evidence of its commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged.

He further added that schemes such as Indiramma Housing, Kalyana Lakshmi, and the CM’s Relief Fund are now being implemented without political bias or party favoritism.

“There is now a visible shift from exploitation to people-centric governance. The Congress government stands firmly with the marginalised, and our goal remains inclusive development,” he noted.

The press meet was also attended by former MPTC Forum President Mula Hanumanth Reddy, former ST Cell President Sabhavath Ganesh Naik, and senior leader Gopireddy Satyanarayana Reddy, who echoed similar sentiments and criticised the previous administration’s “misrule and mismanagement.”
