Major Kavitha Vasupalli Honoured by Former Governor Bandaru Dattatraya

Former Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, on Monday felicitated Major Kavitha Vasupalli, VSM, a serving Medical Officer in the Indian Army, at a ceremony held at his residence in Ramnagar, Hyderabad.

Major Kavitha, who hails from Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, was recently the sole woman participant in a record-setting Brahmaputra River Rafting Expedition, covering a distance of 1,040 km over 28 days. The expedition, organised by the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), was led by Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal, SM, VSM, and sought to promote adventure sports and national integration.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dattatraya lauded Major Kavitha's commitment to service, resilience, and her contribution to promoting women’s representation in the armed forces and adventure activities. He noted that her achievements would serve as an inspiration to young women across the country.

The felicitation was attended by retired defence personnel, civil society members, and well-wishers.
