GHMC Deputy Commissioner Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribe by ACB
Hyderabad (Same Day): In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday apprehended Ravi Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh at the Rajendranagar Circle Office.
According to official sources, the Deputy Commissioner had initially demanded ₹5 lakh from a local hotelier in exchange for facilitating certain permissions. Following negotiations, the demand was reportedly brought down to ₹2 lakh. Acting on a complaint lodged by the aggrieved party, ACB officials laid a trap and caught Mr. Ravi Kumar red-handed while accepting the amount.
Confirming the arrest, ACB officials said that searches were being conducted at the official residence and office premises of the accused officer. “We are investigating the source of disproportionate assets and further leads in the matter,” an ACB spokesperson said.
This incident has sparked widespread concern, coming at a time when allegations of corruption within GHMC are on the rise.
