Hyderabad, June 19 (Same Day): Advisor to the Telangana Government for SC, ST, OBC, and Minorities, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, conducted a high-level review meeting with the Minorities Welfare Department on Thursday, stressing the need for timely implementation and full fund utilisation of all minority welfare schemes across the state. Held at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, the meeting included the newly appointed Principal Secretary B. Shafiullah and TMREIS President Faheem Qureshi. Discussions focused on overcoming financial and infrastructural challenges, inter-departmental coordination, and expediting the release of central and state funds.

Shabbir Ali emphasised achieving 100% enrolment in Telangana Minority Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) schools and announced plans for phased construction of permanent school buildings, as only 26% currently operate from government-owned premises.

He also highlighted the record Rs 3,591 crore allocation for minority welfare in the 2025–26 Telangana Budget, marking a Rs 588 crore increase from the previous year. The allocation supports scholarships, subsidised loans, skill training, and overseas education. He directed officials to ensure measurable outcomes and avoid underutilisation of funds.
