Owaisi Slams US Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites
Hyderabad, June 22 (Same Day): AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned the United States’ air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them illegal under both international law and the U.S. Constitution. Taking the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Owaisi posted: “The strikes carried out this morning by the US on 3–4 nuclear sites in Iran are a violation of international law, and even of the US Constitution itself."
The U.S. military, under Operation Midnight Hammer, launched coordinated strikes on several nuclear sites in Iran, including those at Natanz and Isfahan, citing threats to global security. President Donald Trump called the attacks “necessary and successful,” but the move has sparked global concern. Owaisi criticised the lack of Congressional approval in the U.S. before authorising such a large-scale attack and said the action risked plunging the already tense West Asia region into deeper conflict. “Unilateral actions like this will only increase instability and destroy diplomatic space,” he said. Several international observers and legal experts have echoed similar concerns, warning that the attack could violate the United Nations Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Iranian government has vowed retaliation, while the United Nations has called for urgent de-escalation. Meanwhile, political observers noted that India has so far remained cautious in its response, though calls are growing for the Centre to issue a formal statement.
