Command over English Language Vital for Success, Says Civil Judge


Hyderabad (Same Day): Junior Civil Judge Arisha Nusrat emphasised the importance of acquiring proficiency in the English language, alongside one’s mother tongue, to succeed in today’s competitive world.

Speaking at a students’ meeting organised by Dawn High School, Malakpet, and felicitation program to newly selected junior civil judge by the Telangana judiciary services, Judge Arisha Nusrat said that while regional languages remain integral to identity and administration, English holds a key role in broadening academic and professional opportunities.

“Language should never be viewed as a barrier. With persistence and focus, any challenge can be overcome,” she said, citing her own experience of qualifying in the Telangana Judicial Services Examination, which required proficiency in Telugu, despite her roots in Delhi.

She observed that girls are increasingly excelling in academics, often surpassing their male counterparts due to higher levels of discipline and determination. “Women are leading in every domain today. It is vital that parents discard outdated notions and actively support their daughters’ aspirations,” she added.

Judge Nusrat encouraged students to define their goals early in life and cultivate habits that promote learning. “Instead of spending excessive time on mobile phones, students should engage with newspapers, science and technology books, and stay updated with developments in organisations such as ISRO and NASA,” she noted.

She further stated that economic hardship need not be a deterrent to success in competitive examinations. “With commitment and hard work, students from all backgrounds can achieve their goals,” she said.

The event was attended by Chairman of Dawn Educational Institutions, Fazl Ur Rahman Khurram, academic staff and a large gathering of students.
