Attack on Maha TV condemned; Assault on media freedom, says TJA Greater Hyderabad President Dr. Ikramullah

Hyderabad (Same Day): The recent attack on the office of Maha TV has drawn strong condemnation from the Telangana Journalists Association (TJA) Greater Hyderabad unit. Dr. Syed Ikramullah Hussaini, President of TJA Greater Hyderabad, termed the incident a direct assault on media freedom and a threat to democratic values. In a statement issued on Saturday, Dr. Ikramullah said, This attack is a grave injustice and an affront to the freedom of the press. Media organisations act as the voice of the people. Any violence against them is deeply regrettable and must be viewed as an attack on the fundamental right to free expression.”

Calling for immediate action, he urged the State government to respond swiftly and take stringent action against those responsible for the incident. He added that such attacks not only endanger the safety of journalists but also erode the democratic fabric of the country. Several journalist unions and media organisations have expressed solidarity with Maha TV. Representatives from various media houses reportedly stood united in support, terming the collective response a reflection of the strength and unity of the media fraternity.

Dr. Ikramullah reiterated that safeguarding journalistic freedom is essential for a healthy democracy, and any attempt to silence the press should be met with firm resistance from both the media and civil society.
